Fermi Linux v5.0.2 8/31/98,9/25/98 Connie Sieh & Dan Yocum Fermi Linux is based on RedHat 5.0 . All of the RedHat errata(patches) as of 8/31/98 have already been applied. We have added a few packages(rpms) ourselves. These are documented in /Fermi/doc/html/linux.html . Please note that even though this is based on RedHat 5.0 the install floppy is really from 5.1 . The image on this CD has also been updated. To Install you will need to make a install floppy. For more info see /doc/rhmanual5.1/manual/doc091.htm#sB also see /README which is the standard RedHat readme. The following are things that we have added or changed: /general.errata Readme about all the general errata from RedHat that we installed. /i386.errata Readme about all the i386 errata from RedHat that we installed. /images/boot.img /images/supp.img Versions from 5.1 but needed for this CD to work. If the the supp floppy is used you will have to run the "timeconfig" and the "ntsysv" command manually after the install. This is due to a problem with the install program. You can run both from the /sbin/setup command. /RedHat/RPMS/zz* /RedHat/RPMS/fermi-ups* Fermi created RPMS. See docs in /Fermi/docs/html for more info. Now installs our "UPS" environment by default. This changes the "shell" init files in /etc/skel. The old ones are there if you want to change them back. /Fermi/RPMS Fermi RPMS that may be needed but cannot live in /RedHat/RPMS. This also contains the 2 packages that we have removed from the RedHat/RPMS area. /Fermi/SRPMS SRPMS for the fermi stuff. /Fermi/doc/html This is a copy of our web pages. /security/ /security/RPMS Security related RPMS from RedHat and Fermi. /contrib This area contains items that do not fall under a standard Fermi Linux v5.0.2 installation but are useful to have. tomsrtbt/tomsrtbt-1.6.290.tar.gz A really good recovery/rescue disk. www.toms.net/rb *susedocs More documentation. Very good reference book. from the SUSE distribution. See www.suse.com . *lilodocs The documentation that comes with the lilo product. -Connie Sieh -Dan Yocum We can be contacted at csieh@fnal.gov and yocum@fnal.gov
